The design studio of Stephen Charlip
Architect is a firm dedicated to excellence in design and
architecture. Since its inception in 1989 SCA has designed
a diverse range of residential and commercial projects.
Born in San Francisco, principal Steve Charlip, received
his architectural education in southern California and taught
architecture at UCLA. SCA has extensive experience in the
design and project management of customs residences, which
includes both new and renovation work. The work often encompasses
the collaboration with urban planners, engineers, landscape
architects, interior designers and artists/craftsman. Projects
have been published in the Los Angeles Times, Designers
Illustrated and Sunset Magazine.
In addition to SCAs work in designing
custom residences, the firm has specialized in designing
manufactured homes and can provide clients with a unique
insiders view of the manufactured home industry. Manufactured
homes offer high quality materials, cost predictability
and ensure efficient construction with less on site waste.
Our services include evaluating and choosing the right manufacturer,
custom building design, cost analysis, project management
and coordination with builders. Many of the homes featured
in our design portfolio are custom designed by our firm
and manufactured off site.
In his spare time Steve teaches
art, serves as an arts commissioner for the City of Petaluma
and does volunteer work in his community. He has traveled
and worked as an architect throughout the United States,
Europe, Japan and India.
